Chinese New Year Celebration at Sri Aman flats, PJ


The UMNO Petaling Jaya Utara (PJU) division organized a Juara Rakyat Gong Xi Fa Cai Chinese New Year celebration for the residents of Sri Aman flats in Jalan 22/44, Taman Sri Aman near the Taman Paramount LRT station in Petaling Jaya on Sunday 27th February 2011.

UMNO Petaling Jaya Utara (PJU) division head Dato’ Hj Ikhwan Salim bin Dato’ Hj Sujak officiated the event which was attended by more than 500 flat dwellers and held at the road between the flats and the monsoon drain running parallel to it from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

The celebration event featured a lion dance performance, a clown making balloon sculptures, face painting, vision screening and distribution of ang pow and mandarin oranges.

Present at the event were PJU Federal Development coordinator and MCA PJU division secretary Dato’ Dr Wong Sai Hou, Section 21 SEA Park Residents Association (RA) chairman Gan Keng, Section 21 SEA Park Rukun Tetangga (RT) deputy chairman Cliff Yin and Taman Len Seng (Section 22) Rukun Tetangga chairman G. Rajendran.



A lion dance performance kicked off to a rousing start by entertaining the children at Sri Aman flats.


The children were captivated by the lion dance performance. Lion dances are performed during Chinese New Year to bring good luck, joy and prosperity to Sri Aman residents.

Majlis Mesra Gong Xi Fa Cai 2011 @ MBPJ


The Petaling Jaya City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya MBPJ) held a Majlis Mesra Gong Xi Fa Cai 2011 to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit from 7 pm to 11 pm on Saturday 19th February 2011 at the open-air car park of its headquarter in Jalan Yong Shook Lin.

Gong Xi Fa Cai is a chinese way to wish happy chinese new year to people.

More than 3,000 people from all races and walks of life thronged the new year celebration and enjoyed themselves to the food, drinks and cultural shows.

Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim who arrived to officiate the event was given a resounding round of applause by the crowd.

The highlight of the celebration was the street procession from the car park to the Section 52 town centre and back.

The event under the Local Agenda 21 (LA 21) banner saw a bigger crowd this year than previous year and was a positive way to instill the muhibbah spirit and foster good relations among the various races of Petaling Jaya residents.

The Chinese New Year 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit. Visitors to the Majlis Mesra Gong Xi Fa Cai @ MBPJ were greeted by the auspicious Rabbit mascot and God of Prosperity.
