Najib gives out cash donations in Taman Dato’ Hormat PJS 10 for Chap Goh Meh Festival


Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) hosted a Chap Goh Meh Festival at a playing field in Taman Dato’ Hormat, Jalan PJS 10/11 in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya on Thursday 17th February 2011.

About 2,500 people from all races and walks of life attended the event which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

In his brief address to the crowd, Najib who was wearing a long sleeve shirt and tie and sweating under the scorching heat of the sun, announced a Chinese New Year gift to the people - Reduction in toll rate at the Petaling Jaya Selatan 2 (PJS 2) Toll Plaza along the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) near Kampung Medan, from RM1.60 to RM1 effective from Friday 18th February 2011.

Immediately after his speech, Najib began handing out white envelopes containing RM200 each to about 650 needy folks, regardless of their race, who comprised of senior citizens, single mothers and disabled.

Among those present were Umno Selangor Liaison Committee deputy chairman and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar, MCA Selangor chairman and Deputy Finance Minister Dato’ Donald Lim Siang Chai, MCA Selangor vice chairman and MCA Petaling Jaya Utara (PJU) division secretary Dato’ Dr Wong Sao Hou and Umno Petaling Jaya Selatan (PJS) division chief Raja Datuk Hanipuddin Raja Datuk Nong Chik.

Presentation of donations:
At the Chap Goh Meh Festival, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak brought some festive cheer into the lives of 650 people comprising senior citizens, single mothers and disabled by handing out a white envelope containing RM200 cash to each one of them. The cash donation was to show the government's compassion and kindness to needy folks during the festive season.
